Veggies for Better Running – #TrainingTipTuesday

3 years ago I decided to up my game in the nutritional side of training and got my Precision Nutrition Level 1 coaching certification. Last year I went through Dr. Mike T Nelson’s Metabolic Flex Diet certification. I haven been lucky to work work with some really smart people and have learned a lot. I spent a lot of time focusing on everyday weight loss with keto experts. I also have been trying to figure how the carb, fat and protein timing will work out for endurance athletes.

#TrainingTipTuesday is really just a quick weekly idea to help you with your overall training. This video is just 2 quick tips to help you get more veggies in your day/week.

I like to get my clients to focus on 1 thing at a time and if it works for them my first suggestion is a daily salad. Leafy greens and some other assorted veggies. It should be pretty easy. I wish. Sometimes I’m lazy or just don’t feel like taking the 5 -10 minutes to throw that already washed lettuce in a bowl. Tacos sound better and easier. Hey, I can throw some avocados and salsa on the tacos and count that as veggies. Not bad but a salad with it would still be better.

The other thing and another option is a fresh green juice. Not the Jamba Juice sugar drinks but a mostly veggie juice. I might throw in a apple or an orange but that’s mixed into 6 – 8 ounce servings. Plus, Jamba Juice is expensive if you’re drinking one everyday. So I’ve been juicing myself for years. I have to admit, it takes some time and clean up can suck but for 3 – 4 days of juice for two of us, I think it’s worth it.

This #TrainingTipTuesday is simple, 2 tips to increase your veggie intake. If you eat more veggies you will run better because you will function better overall. Plus for many of us it takes some mental training and mindfulness to do it daily, which can help our running practice.

And, when it comes to eating veggies think, “Eat the Rainbow” as many different color veggies as possible.
