Tapering for an Upcoming Marathon or Half – Check out Running Coach, Steve Mackel’s Tapering Tips
On the West Coast marathon and half marathon season is in full swing. I know Disney World in Florida had the Princess Half last Sunday. So, some of the East Coast is racing. I feel sorry for those of you who are freezing. I get really cold fingers and toes. I don’t like the Polar Vortex.
Since it is race season it is time to post my R’s of Recovery – Tips for Tapering. I drill these tips into the Sole Runners, most important being Sleep (Rest). We have been pounding our bodies with long training weeks. Let those bodies recover and rebuild before your race. You can watch the video for the rest of the tips and move Sleep to the top of your list.
I’ll be out coaching at the LA Marathon, so look for me cheering you on and running with some of you. The Sole Runners have a Holistic Aid Station in between mile 18 – 19. If you are running the LA Marathon and need anything stop by. My taper will start next week because I am gearing up for the Catalina Marathon. I personally like a two week taper but a lot of people take three weeks.
There is great information in the video and lots of tips to incorporate in your taper. Feel free comment below on what works for you or ask questions.
